Planned CTrain Service Disruptions

This is the schedule of maintenance activities we have planned for 2026, so you can prepare for any changes that may impact your commute. More information on these service disruptions, including shuttle route maps, can be found on our CTrain Service Updates page closer to the closure date.

CTrain Service Information

Keeping our CTrain system running safely and smootly requires continuous monitoring and maintenance. Rather than wait for something to go wrong, we schedule regular construction and maintenance activities at stations throughout the system, which allows us to conduct the work in an efficent and predictable way.

*Please note that there could be unscheduled, or emergency work required at different times and dates than listed below. This information is subject to change based on weather, resource requirements, or other external factors.

2026 planned service disruption calendar

April

April 3-5

RED LINE: Closure
Impacted stations: Dalhousie, Brentwood (closed), University (closed), Banff Trail (closed), and Lions Park stations

  • Shuttle buses will replace CTrain service between Dalhousie and Lions Park Stations.

April 10-12

BLUE LINE: Single Track
Impacted station: Downtown West/Kerby Station

  • NOTE: track closure starts at 8 p.m. on Friday, April 10
  • Tracks will be closed one after the other at Downtown West/Kerby Station, switching partway through the weekend:
    • The eastbound track will be closed first, please use the westbound platform (toward 69 Street) for both directions of travel.
    • Switch to eastbound platform (toward City Centre/Saddletowne) for Sunday, April 12, unless an announcement is made earlier.
  • Please pay attention to digital displays and PA announcements to determine which side you will need to catch the train on.

April 13-18

RED LINE: Single Track
Impacted station: Southland Station

  • Overnight only, 9 p.m. to 4 a.m. daily
  • Single track closures – 3 days on one side, 3 days on other
  • Please pay attention to digital displays and PA announcements to determine which side you will need to catch the train on for travel in either direction.

April 20-25

RED LINE: Single Track
Impacted station: Erlton/Stampede Station

  • Northbound track will be closed at Erlton/Stampede Station, use southbound side (towards Somerset-Bridlewood) for both directions of travel.
  • Please pay attention to digital displays and PA announcements in case of any changes.

April 27-May 1

RED LINE: Single Track
Impacted station: Erlton/Stampede Station

  • Southbound track will be closed at Erlton/Stampede Station, use northbound side (towards City Centre/Tuscany) for both directions of travel.
  • Please pay attention to digital displays and PA announcements in case of any changes.

May 2-3

RED LINE: Closure
Impacted stations: Dalhousie, Crowfoot (closed), and Tuscany (closed) stations

  • Shuttle buses will replace CTrain service between Dalhousie and Tuscany Stations.

May 2-3

RED LINE: Single Track
Impacted station: Southland Station

  • Southbound track will be closed at Southland Station, use northbound side (towards City Centre/Tuscany) for both directions of travel.
  • Please pay attention to digital displays and PA announcements in case of any changes.

May 16-18

MAJOR CLOSURE - 7 Avenue Downtown May Long Weekend
RED LINE impacted stations: Sunnyside, Victoria Park/Stampede (closed), Erlton/Stampede (closed), 39 Avenue
BLUE LINE impacted stations: Sunalta, Downtown West/Kerby (closed), Bridgeland/Memorial
DOWNTOWN impacted stations: 8 Street (closed), 7 Street (closed), 6 Street (closed), 4 Street (closed), 3 Street (closed), 1 Street (closed), Centre Street (closed), City Hall/Bow Valley College (closed)

  • Replacement shuttle buses will provide service to all impacted stations, including:
    • A Blue Line shuttle between Westbrook and Bridgeland/Memorial
    • A Blue Line shuttle between Downtown West/Kerby and Sunalta only
    • A Red Line shuttle between Sunnyside and 39 Avenue
  • 7 Avenue will be closed for the annual May Long Weekend maintenance, inspection, and repair work.

May 30-31

BLUE LINE: Closure
Impacted stations: Downtown West/Kerby, Sunalta, Shaganappi Point (closed), Westbrook (closed), 45 Street (closed), Sirocco (closed), and 69 Street (closed) stations

  • Replacement shuttle buses will provide service to all impacted stations, including:
    • A Blue Line shuttle between Downtown West/Kerby and 69 Avenue
    • A separate shuttle between Downtown West/Kerby and Sunalta only

June

June 6-7

RED LINE: Closure
Impacted stations: City Hall/Bow Valley College, Victoria Park/Stampede (closed), Erlton/Stampede (closed), 39 Avenue (closed), and Chinook stations

  • Shuttle buses will replace CTrain service between City Hall/Bow Valley College and Chinook Stations
  • Blue Line service will not be impacted at City Hall/Bow Valley College Station.

June 6-7

RED LINE: Single Track
Impacted station: Southland Station

  • Northbound track will be closed at Southland Station, use southbound side (towards Somerset-Bridlewood) for both directions of travel.

June 13-14

    • A separate shuttle between Downtown West/Kerby and Sunalta only

June 27-28

RED LINE: Closure
Impacted stations: Fish Creek-Lacombe, Shawnessy (closed), and Somerset-Bridlewood stations

  • Shuttle buses will replace CTrain service between Fish Creek-Lacombe and Somerset-Bridlewood Stations.

July

July 18-19

BLUE LINE: Closure
Impacted stations: McKnight-Westwinds, Martindale (closed), and Saddletowne stations

  • This section of the Blue Line will be closed for maintenance & inspection work.
  • Shuttle buses will replace CTrain service between McKnight-Westwinds and Saddletowne Stations.

August

August 1-3

BOTH LINES (DOWNTOWN): MAJOR CLOSURE - 7 Avenue August Long Weekend
Impacted stations: 8 Street, 7 Street (closed), 6 Street (closed), 4 Street (closed), 3 Street (closed), 1 Street (closed), Centre Street (closed), and City Hall/Bow Valley College stations

  • Replacement shuttle buses will provide service to all impacted stations, including:
    • A Blue Line shuttle between Downtown West/Kerby and City Hall/Bow Valley College
    • A Red Line shuttle between City Hall/Bow Valley College and 8 Street Station
  • The Red Line from the northwest will both terminate and leave from 8 Street Station

August 15-16

RED LINE: Closure
Impacted stations: 7 Street, 8 Street, Sunnyside (closed), SAIT/AUArts/Jubilee (closed), and Lions Park stations

  • Shuttle buses will replace CTrain service between Lions Park and:
    • 7 Street Station (heading northbound)
    • 8 Street Station (transfer point to southbound/eastbound CTrains)
  • Blue Line service will not be impacted at 7 Street/8 Street Stations.

August 28-30

RED LINE: Closure
Impacted stations: Heritage, Southland (closed), Anderson (closed), Canyon Meadows (closed), and Fish Creek-Lacombe stations

  • NOTE: closure starts at 8:30 p.m. on Friday, August 28.
  • Shuttle buses will replace CTrain service between Heritage and Fish Creek-Lacombe Stations.

September

September 5-7

BLUE LINE: Closure
Impacted stations: City Hall/Bow Valley College, Bridgeland/Memorial (closed), Zoo (closed), Barlow/Max Bell (closed), Franklin (closed), and Marlborough stations

  • Replacement shuttle buses will provide service to all impacted stations, including:
    • A Blue Line shuttle between City Hall/Bow Valley College and Marlborough
    • A separate shuttle to access the Zoo from Bridgeland/Memorial
    • An express shuttle providing direct service between City Hall/Bow Valley College and Marlborough only

September 12-13

RED LINE: Closure
Impacted stations: 39 Avenue and Chinook stations

  • Shuttle buses will replace CTrain service between 39 Avenue and Chinook Stations.

September 26-27

BLUE LINE: Closure
Impacted stations: Marlborough, Rundle (closed), Whitehorn (closed), and McKnight-Westwinds stations

  • Shuttle buses will replace CTrain service between McKnight-Westwinds and Marlborough Stations.

October

October 3-4

RED LINE: Closure
Impacted stations: University, Banff Trail (closed), and Lions Park stations

  • Shuttle buses will replace CTrain service between University and Lions Park Stations.

October 10-12

RED LINE: Closure
Impacted stations: Chinook and Heritage stations

  • Shuttle buses will replace CTrain service between Heritage and Chinook Stations.

October 24-25

BLUE LINE: Closure
Impacted stations: Whitehorn, McKnight-Westwinds (closed), Martindale (closed), and Saddletowne stations

  • Shuttle buses will replace CTrain service between Whitehorn and Saddletowne Stations.
