Making transit resources go further
Efficiency is about getting the most value from the resources we have, while continuing to improve service for customers.
This report highlights efforts ranging from improving workforce planning and maintaining vehicles and infrastructure to using technology and data more effectively, improving bus service planning, and finding new sources of non-fare revenue.
The report looks at five areas:
-
Service
Planning and delivering service to customers in ways that make the best use of available vehicles, operators, and service hours.
-
Workforce
Improving workforce planning, training, scheduling, and safety to support reliable service and manage labour costs.
-
Assets
Getting more value and longer life from vehicles, facilities, infrastructure, and other transit assets.
-
Digital
Using technology, data, and automation to improve operations, information, and decision-making.
-
Governance and oversight
Improving coordination, accountability, and decision-making across the transit system.
Looking ahead
Improvements will continue. Calgary Transit will track results, identify new opportunities, and assess where changes can deliver the greatest value for customers and Calgarians.
This work supports RouteAhead, Calgary Transit’s 30-year strategic plan, by helping transit resources and investments go further as Calgary continues to grow.
