Summer Service Changes
Throughout the year, we review our bus routes and schedules to see if there are areas where we can improve service. We take several factors into consideration, including feedback and ridership levels, to ensure we’re meeting the needs of Calgarians.
This summer’s changes include bus stop adjustments and optimization for Route 3 and Route 53, the discontinuation of Route 27, and a new stop for Route 20 at the 78 Avenue Terminal. School routes are also done for the season once the school year wraps up at the end of June.
The Summer Service Changes come into effect on Monday, June 22, 2026.
Route Changes
Major highlights of this season’s route changes include:
Route 3 – Elbow Dr/Sandstone
Some stops will be closed throughout the southernmost portion of the route, along Elbow Dr SW. These closures create a more even distribution of stops, providing faster, more optimized service. One stop for Route 81 will also be impacted (at SB Elbow Dr @ 78 Ave S.W.).
Route 53 – Brentwood Station/Greenwood
Buses will no longer loop around the traffic circle on Bowfort Rd NW when heading westbound toward Greenwood. This will streamline the service by removing westbound service from the two stops along Bowfort Rd just east of 83 St N.W. Eastbound Route 53 will continue to provide service to both stops on the way to Brentwood.
Route 27 – Willowglen
This route is being is being discontinued, due to sustained low ridership and low-density development in the area. Both Route 19 and Route 33 offer alternative options for the area, connecting Columbia College and Willowglen Business Park with the CTrains.
Route 20 – Heritage Station/Northmount Dr
The Route 20 stop in the bus loop at 78 Avenue Terminal will be moved out of the loop and relocated to Centre St N., just south of 78 Ave N.E., in line with enhancements to terminal operations.
