We're working with many City partners including; the Calgary Police Service, Transit Safety, Community Services, Corporate Security, 911 and Calgary’s many community social service partners to help improve safeyt on the transit system.
Our uniformed Calgary Transit peace officers are highly trained and skilled professionals, who help ensure you get home safely every day. They patrol our transit systems 24 hours, seven days a week, proactively preventing disorder and providing help in emergency situations.
We are working through the recruitment and training of the new peace officers scheduled for 2023. When our recruitment process is complete, we will have a total of 141 Transit peace officers for deployment across the system. This total includes the 32 additional Transit peace officers that were approved as part of our growth strategy last July. That represents a 25 per cent increase in patrols and officer presence on the system.
We are also currently recruiting and training security guards to actively patrol the system. When complete we will have 31 in total.
We have over 1,200 CCTV cameras across our CTrain system, that are monitored 24/7 by security agents in our Operations Control Centre. These agents also dispatche Peace Officers and respond to reports that come in through the Transit Watch program.
Every Calgary Transit customer deserves to feel safe when riding with us. The Transit Watch program was established to make it easier for customers to report safety concerns while riding transit. There are three ways to get in touch with us:

Customer Safety tips
If you’re walking to one of our CTrain stations, look both ways for trains when crossing the tracks and obey all traffic signals. Motorists and pedestrians should be aware of flashing lights and crossing arms when CTrains are passing through.
While waiting for the CTrain, please ensure you stand and remain behind the yellow line until the train has fully stopped. Never put any objects or limbs in the closing doors and don’t try to pry the doors open once they’ve closed. Wait for fellow transit users to exit the train before getting on.
Once you’re on the train, move to the centre of the car so as not to block other customers from getting on and off. Each CTrain car has yellow lines and signs to indicate where it’s safe to stand when the doors are opening.
When you’re exiting the CTrain, please move towards the door before the train comes to a stop. Once the train has stopped, press the button near the exit to open the door. This will make it easier for you to get off the train in a timely manner.
