Snow Detours
We have identified several areas of the city that are more challenging for our buses to get through when road conditions are extremely snowy or icy. When snow or ice is expected to impact road conditions, we will proactively implement all snow detours. This allows us to keep to our schedule and maintain service on the route. When road conditions, improve, all snow detours will be lifted at the same time.
We have installed orange signs along most familiar detoured routes to help identify which bus stops may be closed when a snow detour is in effect.
FAQs
There is no snow on my route. Why is it on a snow detour?
When any part of the city experiences snowfall or icy conditions, we activate all snow detours to simplify the trip planning process for all customers.
My route has already been cleared of snow. Why is it still on a snow detour?
We’re now activating and deactivating all snow detours at the same time. This approach allows us to communicate more clearly and effectively with customers, provide more predictability and make it easier for people to plan their commutes.
How do I know when the snow detours are activated?
Every time we activate snow detours, we’ll announce it on our website (www.calgarytransit.com), X (@calgarytransit), the Transit app, and through the media.
How do I know when the snow detours are lifted?
When the snow detours are lifted, we’ll announce it through the media and X (@calgarytransit), and we’ll remove all snow detour notifications from our website (www.calgarytransit.com) and the Transit App.
