Snow detours in effect city-wide starting Monday morning

With heavy snowfall forecasted across Calgary overnight and into Monday, all Calgary Transit snow detours will be in effect for the morning commute, to keep service moving safely and reliably.

The snow detours will be in place for the first trips of the day on Monday, Nov. 24. Activating the detours city-wide at the same time will help prevent buses from getting stuck, as well as slowing down transit service for customers and traffic for commuters.

Snow detours will remain in place until conditions improve, at which point they may be lifted city-wide or by quadrant.

All school routes will stay in place and will not be impacted by detours.

A full list of bus routes that have designated snow detours, including maps, is available at calgarytransit.com/snowdetours. Snow detours are designed based on where buses typically get stuck, customer feedback and insights from operators. Orange signs along commonly detoured routes show which stops may be closed when snow detours are in effect.

Crews are already out preparing LRT platforms this evening and will continue working through the night and into the morning to keep CTrain and MAX platforms, sidewalks, stairs, bus loops, Transitways and parking lots safe and accessible.
