Be prepared for Stampede this year! Here are some tips for getting around during Stampede.

The Greatest Outdoor Show on Earth officially kicks off with the 104th Calgary Stampede Parade on Friday, July 8. Get there early to get the best seat in the house! CTrain service runs before, during and after the parade. All downtown CTrain stations are within one block of the Parade route.

Road closures and bus route detours become effective at 7:30 a.m., signalling the start of the Parade Prelude. At 8:55 a.m. the Main Parade begins at 3 Street SE and finishing around 12:00 p.m. at 9 Avenue and 4 Street SE. For information on bus route detours, please see Service Updates. For more information about the Parade, visit: parade.calgarystampede.com

Hundreds of thousands of float-fanatics line the streets downtown to watch over 170 entries take a 4.5 km route. When the Parade lets out, thousands make their way to the Stampede Grounds. Here are some options to get you to the grounds:

Buses on detour during the Stampede Parade:

  2. Train – Take the CTrain to Victoria Park/Stampede or Erlton Stations. Please be aware that Centre Street and City Hall Stations become extremely crowded between 11:30 a.m. – 1:00 p.m. You may have to wait to get onto a CTrain, as they fill up very quickly.

  3. Walk – From the end of the Parade route on 9 Avenue and 4 Street SE, it is only a 10 – 15 minute walk to the main gates.

  • Only cross the tracks at the designated locations
  • Stand behind the yellow line
  • Hold your kids hands

  • If you have any questions or concerns about your safety, let any of our transit staff know

Have fun!

Whether you’re a thrill seeker checking out the latest rides, a foodie with a taste for the newest in fried goodies, or catching the rip roaring action of the rodeo, the Calgary Stampede has something for everyone. And we’ll take you there and get you back. Have fun, and please remember to respect everyone around you!

Together, we’re going places.
