Whitehorn Station Improvements and Upgrades

The Whitehorn CTrain Station building reopened to the public on October 17, 2011.

The station head (main building) had been closed since June as part of the northeast CTrain station redevelopment project to allow for construction and several upgrades and improvements to the station.

The upgrades include:

  • New at-grade LRT crossing and station access at south end of the station.
  • New four-car platform.
  • New platform canopy
  • New parking stalls for people with disabilities.
  • New and improved lighting system and enhanced visibility from outside and inside the station.
  • New escalator.
  • Calgary Transit’s first new public accessible elevator.
  • Heated platform shelter.

What’s next?

Further northeast station redevelopment for Rundle, Marlborough, Franklin, Barlow-Max Bell, Zoo and Bridgeland-Memorial stations. (Nov. 2011 – Dec. 2015.)

The total cost of the northeast station redevelopment project is $42 million.
