West LRT
Planning began for the West LRT in the early 80s with council approving the plan in 1988. A final plan and funding for West LRT was approved in 2007 and construction is now underway with completion to 69 Street SW expected in December 2012. This line will have six stations and two park and ride facilities along 8 kilometres of track. This project will involve unique elements for Calgary including an elevated station in Sunalta and subway style stations at Westbrook and 69th Street SW.

Endorsed West LRT Feeder Bus Network
On February 15, 2012 the final proposed feeder bus route network plan for West LRT was endorsed by a committee made up of representatives of the West LRT service area communities. The final plan is the result of extensive collaboration between Calgary Transit and the public in this area. A total of 19 consultation sessions were held consisting of open houses and community meetings which began in 2008. Each of these sessions resulted in modifications to the proposed plans to reflect both the needs and ideas expressed by residents and transit customers in the West LRT area. The final plan also reflects the resources and the operational requirements of Calgary Transit.
Calgary Transit would like to thank the members of the West LRT Committee and the many members of the public who took the time to provide us with great feedback that has helped shape the new bus routing for the West LRT line.
