Southwest Bus Rapid Transit
Southwest Bus Rapid Transit (SW BRT) is planned as a new way to improve transit service that will connect southwest communities, the downtown and major destinations – especially Mount Royal University, Rockyview General Hospital, Glenmore Landing and Heritage Park. The SW BRT proposal goes beyond existing BRT service in Calgary since it will offer a way for buses to operate in their own right of way and build on the success of the Crowchild Trail bus-only lanes.
Southwest BRT was approved by Council in 2011 February, although there is no funding in place today. To learn more about SW BRT, please see its executive summary:
