Southland CTrain Station Upgrade
In preparation for future four-car CTrains on Calgary Transitís LRT system, construction to upgrade the Southland Station will begin on Thursday, February 3, 2011.
Station improvements will include a lengthened CTrain platform to accommodate four-car trains, improved accessibility and improved lighting. A portion (about 1/3) of the existing station platform will be removed and replaced as well.
Please note: To conduct the work safely and efficiently, it is necessary to close the ground-level pedestrian track crossing starting Thursday, February 3. The above-ground crossing will remain open.
If you require ground-level access, please make arrangements to use one of the adjacent stations (e.g. Anderson or Heritage). In addition, it will be necessary to close the station for a period of time to allow for the removal and replacement of a portion of the existing platform. Calgary Transit will communicate the dates for this station closure at a later date.
Calgary Transit is committed to minimizing disruptions for its customers. It is working with the project manager to determine specific construction timelines and will keep its customers informed.
As construction progresses, information will be posted at the CTrain stations and on Calgary Transitís website.
