Senior Citizen Transit Passes

The Calgary Transit Senior Citizen’s Transit Pass provides unlimited access to Calgary Transit services for all seniors 65 years of age and over. The Senior Citizen Transit Pass is a yearly pass that is valid each year from July 1 to June 30 of the following year.
 

Eligibility Requirements:

  • Any individual 65 years of age or older.
  • Individuals must provide proof of age at the time of purchase.
  • Individuals must be a Calgary resident and provide proof of Calgary address (ie. utility bill with name and Calgary address of applicant)  
  • Individuals submitting their application by mail must include a PHOTOCOPY of their proof of age as noted below.


Proof of Age:

Any ONE of the following documents is an acceptable source for determining age.

  • Birth Certificate
  • Driver's License
  • Baptismal Certificate
  • Passport
  • Alberta Health Care Card
  • Old Age Security Identification Card
     

Eligibility For Reduced Rate: 

To be eligible to receive the Senior Citizen Transit Pass for the reduced rate of $15, you must have an individual yearly gross income as per Revenue Canada – Notice of Assessment (Line 150) of less than $18,745, or a combined income of less than $28,530 for couples. You must provide proof of income when you apply for your pass. Have any one of the following documents with you if you apply in person or provide a copy if you submit your application by mail.
 

Proof of Income:

  • Guaranteed Income Supplement (GIS)
  • Revenue Canada Income Tax Notice of Assessment (Line 150)
  • T4A OAS (with dollar amount showing in Box 21)
  • AISH statement (Health Benefits Card)

Note: Individuals who receive the Alberta Seniors Benefit, but do not qualify for the Guaranteed Income Supplement are not eligible for the reduced rate and must pay $35.

Individuals who receive the allowance for the Survivor Supplement Benefit but are not 65 years of age, are not eligible for a Senior Citizen’s Transit Pass.

1) Complete the Application and forward it with a cheque or money order payable to Calgary Transit to:

Please include a copy of your proof of age and proof of income (as per samples noted above) if you are applying for the reduced rate pass.

2) Visit the Calgary Transit Customer Service Centre, located at:

224 - 7th Avenue S.W.
10:00 am to 5:30 pm (Monday - Friday)
* The Senior Citizen Yearly Transit Pass is not eligible for refund.

Pass Renewal Options:

1)  Complete the renewal application and return it along with your payment in person to:

  1. Charter banks, trust companies, credit unions or treasury branches

  2. Calgary Transit Customer Service Centre
    224 - 7th Avenue SW, 10:00am - 5:30pm (Monday - Friday)

  3. City Cashiers (only cash, debit or cheques accepted)
    3rd floor, Municipal Building, 800 Macleod Trail SE, 8:00am - 4:30pm (Monday - Friday)
   OR

2) Complete the renewal application and mail your payment (cheque or money order). Please allow three to four weeks if you renew by mail.
