Calgary Transit is pleased to again be a participant in the Retire Your Ride Alberta program in partnership with the Clean Air Foundation and Climate Change Central. Retire Your Ride replaces the Car Heaven program which Calgary Transit has been a partner of since 2003. Retire your Ride is a national program delivered throughout Canada by the Clean Air Foundation through its partnership with several delivery agents.
Climate Change Central represents the province of Alberta to deliver environmental education and outreach programming. They are dedicated to improving air quality, addressing climate issues, and encouraging the use of sustainable transportation. One of the goals of the Retire Your Ride program is to get vehicles older than 1995 off Alberta and Calgary streets and roads. It has been shown that these older vehicles produce emissions far out of proportion to their numbers. In fact, ten percent of the vehicles on the road produce fifty percent of the emissions.
As a participant in this program Calgary Transit is offering qualified applicants the option of choosing to receive nine consecutive monthly transit passes. Those applicants selecting this option will be required to sign for and pick up their pass at the Calgary Transit Customer Service Centre located at 224 7 avenue S.W. each month. Other incentives are also available from the Retire Your Ride program.
Therefore, if your vehicle is a 1995 model or older, is still in running condition, and has been registered and properly insured for the past 6 months you may qualify for these incentives.
