Real-Time Information Begins November 1
On Tuesday, November 1, Calgary Transit activated its new real-time customer information system for the CTrain as part of the Advanced Passenger Information System that will eventually encompass all Calgary Transit bus routes.
Over the past month the project team has been working to fine tune the operation and accuracy of the system. These adjustments will continue until an official launch of the system is announced later this month.
The next train real time displays are operational at most CTrain stations now with the exception of those under construction and those located at the ends of the CTrain lines (terminus stations). Due to technical issues which will continue to be worked on throughout the month of November, these stations will be ready at a later date.
These stations include: 10 Street S.W., Crowfoot, Somerset-Bridlewood and McKnight-Westwinds.
Additionally, 8 Street S.W., 1 Street S.W., and 4 Street S.W. on the 7 Avenue transit corridor may be impacted due to ongoing construction activities in the area.
The terminus and 7 Avenue stations will still be able to deliver service delay messages and public service announcements. Only the next train information messages will not show at this time.
This new information stream will be very valuable. Customers can be confident of the status of the system and have another way to learn of delays in a timely manner.
