Park and Ride

Calgary Transit provides park and ride access for Transit customers who wish to park their vehicles at designated CTrain Stations and main line bus corridors. All of Transit's Park and Ride facilities are offered for free, except at Fish Creek Lacombe Station, where a few stalls are reserved as
paid-for-guaranteed parking.  You can get more information on the
paid-for-guaranteed parking at Calgary Parking Authority web site.
Also see information on Calgary Transit's Park and Ride Policy.

Many of Calgary Transit's Park and Ride lots are equipped with electrical plug-ins for the convenience of transit customers during the winter months. These lots and the number of stalls available with plug-ins are listed in the table below.

Electrical outlets are not activated until the ambient temperature falls to -20 Celsius. During these times, power is provided on a cycle of 20 minutes on and 40 minutes off during each hour.

The plug-ins are for automotive block heaters only. In-car heaters will trip the breakers and in most cases will affect several outlets and the vehicles that are using them.

4-Hour Free Parking

Calgary Transit offers commuters 110 four-hour parking spaces within 10 minutes transit travel to the downtown.

The amount of short term, four hour parking at four Calgary Transit park and ride lots has been increased by converting some existing all day parking to short-term spaces.

-          Franklin Station (northeast CTrain),

-          39th Avenue Station (south CTrain),

-          Banff Trail / McMahon Stadium Station (northwest CTrain)

-          Bow Tr / 45 Street SW

These lots have been chosen for this program because of their proximity to the downtown core and the fact that these lots generally have unused parking stalls after the a.m. peak period and therefore, will pose the least inconvenience for long stay park and ride users.

Each of the four lots provides 30-35 four-hour parking stalls. Through this initiative, Calgary Transit provides midday/off peak transit travel to and from the downtown for business meetings, shopping and other short term activities.

Parking for free and taking transit saves time, money, the frustration of traffic congestion and finding a pricey parking spot downtown. As well, the four-hour stalls provide added capacity to the limited supply of downtown parking stalls.

To ensure compliance with the parking restriction, customers parking in the short-term stalls are required to obtain a time stamp ticket from a centrally located machine and place it on the dash of their car. This free ticket is for enforcement by the Calgary Parking Authority only - customers will not be charged for using the new four-hour parking stalls.
