Northeast LRT Extension to Martindale and Saddletowne Stations
NE CTrain Extension to Martindale and Saddletowne Stations
NE Feeder Bus Network
The extension of the Northeast CTrain line to Martindale and Saddletowne stations provides an opportunity to realign and improve current bus routes serving the communities located north of 64 Avenue NE. It is intended that the revised bus routes will provide shorter and more direct access to the new stations and other local destinations.
Planning for these bus route changes is required well before the opening of the new stations (schedule for opening in 2012). The area under review includes the communities of Martindale, Taradale and Saddle Ridge. Routes serving the communities south of 64 Avenue and east of Métis Trail NE will not be changed.
The primary objective of this project is to develop new bus services which will:
· Provide for direct travel to and from the closest CTrain station for trips leaving the community (e.g. travel to downtown);
· Serve a wide range of local community oriented trips (e.g. school, shopping, recreational); and
· Enhance the potential for cross-town and inter community transit trips
By achieving these objectives we will provide a wide range of travel options for the community.
Calgary Transit has developed a proposed bus network plan for the new stations which will serve as a starting point for public consultation and discussion.
Input can be provided by email to NEFeederbus@calgary.ca or by fax 403-537-7737.
Based on public input, a final transit service plan will be produced and presented to the NE LRT Extension Community Consultation Committee for approval. This committee has been formed with representatives from Martindale, Saddle Ridge and Taradale to review issues related to the NE LRT extension.
