Bikes on the CTrain

Customers are welcome to bring their bikes on the CTrain:

  • Weekdays: before 6:30 a.m., 9 a.m. - 3 p.m., and after 6 p.m.

  • No hourly restrictions on weekends and statutory holidays.

  • Bikes may be prohibited on the train at any time due to crowded or unsafe
    conditions (e.g. before and after a concert or a football game).

 BOARDING WITH YOUR BIKE

  • Allow other passengers to exit and enter the train first.

  • Only board and exit the CTrain through the doors at the front and back of each car; do not use the doors in the middle of the car.

  • Only four bikes are allowed on each car; two at either end.

  • Please walk your bike in CTrain stations, onto CTrains and on the platforms, pedestrian bridges and access ramps. Remain with your bike at all times.

NOTE
Bicycles are transported on buses and CTrains at the owner's risk.

Calgary Transit is not responsible for damage to improperly secured bicycles, loss due to theft, or bicycles left on buses or CTrains by owners.

Passengers are responsible for loading and unloading their bikes without assistance from the operator.

In response to customer requests for a bike locker rental program, Calgary Transit provides these bike lockers at CTrain stations. There are up to 118 bike lockers available for rent at the following CTrain stations:
 

    • Crowfoot

      • North Entrance (6)

      • South Entrance (12)

    • Dalhousie (10)

    • Brentwood (8)

    • Whitehorn (6)

    • Chinook (4)

    • Anderson (10)

    • Canyon Meadows (8)

    • Fish Creek – Lacombe (16)

    • Shawnessy (12)

    • Somerset-Bridlewood (10)

    • Sunnyside (4)

    • McKnight-Westwinds (12)

To Rent A Bike Locker:
Lockers are rented for a six-month term*, May 1 – October 31, and November 1 – April 30. The charge for the lockers is a non-refundable fee of $72 ($12/month). A refundable security deposit of $30 is also required for locker keys.  Day-use lockers are not available.

Lockers are assigned on a first-come/first-served basis, in person, at the Calgary Area Outdoor Council located at 1111 Memorial Drive NW, (Hours 9 a.m. - 5 p.m., Monday - Friday). No reservations over the phone or waiting lists are observed for this program. Lockers rentals or renewals will no longer be available from the Calgary Transit customer service centre.

To obtain a locker, applicants are required to provide in person to the Calgary Area Outdoor Council:

    1. Name, address, phone and email information;

    2. Rental fee and deposit in the form of cash, cheque or money order;

    3. Photo identification that will be photocopied for security reasons.

* A 12-month term from May 1 – April 30 is also available at a reduced fee of $132.

BIKE RACKS ON BUSES                                     back to top

The following routes have been designated as Low Floor Bike Rack routes starting July 03, 2006:

1, 6, 7, 11, 12, 15, 28, 29, 52, 56, 78, 79, 80, 83, 92, 96, & 408.

For scheduling information, go to our TRIP PLANNER and select Bike Rack from the "Accessibility" drop-down menu under "Options" (item 4).

  • There is no additional charge for bikes on Calgary Transit.

  • Easy-to-follow instructions are printed directly on the rack.

  • Buses on Bike 'n' Ride routes carry a maximum of two bikes, on a first-come, first-served basis.

  • Bikes are not allowed on board buses.

  • Bikes placed in the rack do not touch each other, the bus or other vehicles.

  • Only single seat, standard two-wheeled bikes fit in the racks.

  • If the bike rack is inoperative, notify the driver and wait for the next bus.

  • A limited number of Calgary Transit buses have racks. In the event of a bus failure, the replacement bus may not be rack-equipped.

  • Passengers are responsible for loading and unloading their bikes without assistance from the operator.
