It has been shown that
these older vehicles produce emissions far out of
proportion to their numbers. In fact, ten percent of the
vehicles on the road produce fifty percent of the
emissions. As
a participant, Calgary Transit is offering qualified
applicants the option of choosing to receive six monthly
transit passes over a one year period. Those applicants
selecting this option will be required to sign for and
pick up their pass at the Calgary Transit Customer
Service Centre located at 224 7 avenue S.W. each month.
Other incentives
such as subsidizing the purchase of a new bicycle are
also available from the Car Heaven program. In order to
qualify for these incentives, the participant's vehicle
must be surrendered for scrapping.
