Replacing Fluorescent Lights on Calgary Transit CTrains

LED Lighting
Calgary Transit is committed to continually improving on its environmental performance. One way of showing this commitment is by replacing the interior fluorescent lights on our newer style SD-160 trains with new technology LED lighting.

These LED systems have a number of advantages over the traditional fluorescent tubes including:

  • Reduced energy consumption
  • Extended operational life
  • Less hazardous components
  • Reduction in waste generation
  • Operational saving

With over 78 SD-160 vehicles in the fleet, it will include replacing approximately 1,700 fluorescent lamps for a significant long term saving.
