- The Calgary Transit Training Program is
approximately five weeks( 21 business days)
long.
- For the most part, your working hours
during the training program will be from
07:00 am to 15:30 hrs. Monday to Friday.
However, there will days when you will be
required to start as early as 05:00 am or
work as late as 02:00 am.
- If you are currently working at another
job, it is highly recommended that you
inform your current employer that you will
be unavailable for work over the next five
weeks. Remember, the training program is
21 business days in length.
- The first six days of the program are
spent receiving instruction on the buses
and how to properly drive large vehicles.
All students must demonstrate a high level
of proficiency by day six of the program.
On the seventh day, all students will be
required to pass a class 2 road
evaluation. Students who are unsuccessful
at this point are released from the
training program.
- Throughout the training program there
will be several homework assignments
distributed starting with the first
weekend of the program. These assignments
will take approximately six hours in total
to complete.
- During the training program there will
be three driver evaluations conducted and
you must receive a satisfactory rating in
order to continue in the program.
- During the training program there will
be three route driving simulations
conducted and you must receive a
satisfactory rating to continue in the
program.
- There is a final exam at the end of the
training program that you must attain a
mark of 70% or better to successfully
complete the program.
- At Calgary Transit,
we have exceptionally high standards for
dress code. During the training program,
you will be required to dress
appropriately as follows:
- business suit or jacket.
- business attire/ white shirt and
tie.
- dress pants, to match shirt .
- black shoes that can be polished.
- appropriately colored socks, to
match pants.
- Please be informed
that tardiness will not be tolerated
during the training program. Showing up on
time is a condition of employment and a
requirement for this occupation. Always
ensure you have a reliable timepiece with
you.
- Your performance,
ability, skill, knowledge and attitude
will be monitored on a daily basis,
throughout the training program. Training
officers will be documenting any
performance issues that arise, commencing
on the first day of training.
- Graduation from the
Calgary Transit training program is
contingent on successful completion of all
components of the program. Our standards
are very high, and our training program is
designed to help you achieve these.
