PAY
GUARANTEE -
Transit Operators initially receive
a pay guarantee of 60 hours
biweekly and eventually progress to a pay guarantee of 75 hours
biweekly.
HOURS OF WORK -
This
work is performed seven days per week covering a
variety of shift schedules from approximately 4:00 a.m. - 3:00
a.m. Work is assigned based on seniority and new employees are
required to work both evenings and weekends.

Unit Information
Calgary Transit carries over 89
million customers each year. The organization plans, designs and
operates Calgary's public transportation system including a
growing fleet of buses, LRT network and accessible public
transportation for people with disabilities.
Responsibilities
Transit Operators are skilled
professionals who provide safe, courteous and accessible public
transit service. They transport customers and respond to their
needs courteously; operate all transit vehicles (bus and light
rail) safely and competently in a variety of conditions and in
accordance with policies and procedures; read, interpret and
apply information obtained from city route maps and schedules,
locate all major city locations; ensure appropriate fares are
deposited, transfers issued or collected; perform other duties
as assigned.
Qualifications
Applicants must be at least 18 years
of age and possess a valid Alberta Class 5 Operator's License
with three or less demerits with no current suspensions and no
charges pending; are required to obtain an Alberta Class 2
Operator's License with 'Q' endorsement; and are required to
successfully complete both conventional bus and LRT
certification. First consideration will be given to applicants
with related experience, a valid Class 1 or 2 Operator's License
(with a 'Q' endorsement), and who have a clean driving record.
Applicants must possess the ability
to communicate clearly in the English language both verbally and
in writing; strong interpersonal skills and tact in dealing with
the public and staff at all levels; flexibility and sound
judgment; excellent customer service; tolerance for stress; and
the ability to learn, retain and apply new concepts and
information.
Applicants must provide, at time of interview, an original
driver's abstract (within the last three months) from all
jurisdictions for which they have been a licensed driver in the
last two years.
