Compensation: $17.68 per hour after training
$15.03 per hour during the 21 day training program

Hours of Work - Calgary Transit operates Community Shuttle 7 days a week,
24 hours per day.

PAY GUARANTEE: Community Shuttle Operators are required to work Saturday and Sunday and are guaranteed 15 hours per week. Individuals will be required to work evenings and weekends and may work more hours on weekdays.  Community Shuttle Operators may be eligible for appropriate benefits after working a minimum 20 hours per week for a sign up (approximately 4 months).

Business Unit Information:
Calgary Transit carries over 90 million customers each year. The organization plans, designs and operates The City's entire public transportation system, including a growing fleet of buses, a Light Rail Transit network, and accessible public transportation for people with disabilities.


Responsibilities:
Community Shuttle Operators are skilled professionals who provide safe, courteous and accessible public transit service. They transport customers and respond to their needs courteously; operate all Community Shuttle vehicles safely and competently in a variety of conditions and in accordance with policies & procedures; read, interpret and apply information obtained from city route map schedules, locate all major city locations; ensure appropriate fares are deposited, transfers issued or collected; perform other duties as assigned.


Qualifications:
Applicants must possess: the ability to communicate clearly in the English Language, both verbally and in writing; strong interpersonal skills and tact in dealing with the public and staff at all levels; flexibility and sound judgment; excellent customer service; tolerance for stress; ability to learn, retain and apply new concepts and information; be at least 18 years of age; and possess a valid Alberta Class 5 Operator's License. First consideration will be given to those who posses directly related experience, a valid Class 1 or 2 Driver's License (with a Q endorsement), and have a clean driving record, with no demerits (please include in resume/application).

Applicants must provide at time of interview: a current original driver's abstract (within the last 3 months) from all jurisdictions for which you have been a licensed driver in the last 2 years. You must have no more than 3 demerits, no current suspensions and no charges pending.

Condition of Employment  - Must be able to meet all the requirements to obtain an Alberta Class 2 Operator's License with 'Q' endorsement and must meet all the requirements for the Class 2 License.
Selection Process:

1) Submit a completed application/resume.
2) Further consideration is dependent upon successful completion of the following steps: a) customer service video testing;
b) driving simulations video testing;
c) job interview;
d) security clearance;
e) reference checks;
f) provincial airbrake certification program;
g) training program.

Those applicants who fail at any point of the selection process will be required to reapply on future competitions and will need to repeat all steps in the selection process.
