CTrain Service Information

June 14-15: Sunnyside to University/Brentwood closure

Affected service hours:
Saturday, June 14 (all day)
Sunday, June 15 (all day)

What to expect:

The Red Line will be closed between Sunnyside and University stations starting on Saturday, June 14 until the early hours of Monday, June 16.

Red Line trains coming from the south and downtown will terminate at Sunnyside Station, and trains from the northwest will terminate at University Station. Shuttle buses will replace train service between Sunnyside and Brentwood Stations. Stay on the southbound train from Brentwood only if you’re heading directly to University Station, otherwise catch the shuttle in the Brentwood Station bus loop.

Full CTrain service will be back up and running again by start of service on Monday, June 16.

Why are we doing this?

We know these closures can have an impact on your travel, which is why we try to keep them as minimally disruptive as possible. That’s also why they’re so important – because doing preventative work and maintenance now can ensure we’re providing Calgarians with a safe, reliable, and efficient transit system.

Some work can be completed while keeping the trains on track, but there are certain projects that are just too big, or can’t share the space safely while trains are in service, and they require fully closing off sections of the line. Occasionally, a power cut is required to carry out specific work, which also means we need to close the line to train travel.

This weekend, the repair and maintenance projects on the list include:

  • Work on the +15 pedestrian bridge at SAIT
  • Crowchild Trail tunnel maintenance
  • Track & Way work
  • and other projects, as time allows.

Thank you for your patience during these closures!
